Danske Bank Foresters Cup final:
Cross & Passion Ballycastle 1-15
St Louis Ballymena 1-12
The CPC under 16 ½ hurlers replicated the achievements of their camogie counterparts by winning the Ulster title. The team, coached by Mr. Cassidy and Mr. Campbell, trained tirelessly since February in preparation for a tough campaign. After defeating St. Killian’s in the semi-final we faced our other Antrim rivals St. Louis’ Ballymena in the final. The game was played in Cloughmills and CPC started well, going 4 points clear in the opening ten minutes thanks to scores from Ryan McFarline. However, St. Louis’ had the gap down to one point after 20 minutes but a further burst from CPC, including points from Michael McGarry and Conor McBride, stretched CPC’s lead at half time to 5 points.
The opening 5 minutes of the second half really put CPC in the driving seat when points from Ryan Hill and Michael McGarry were followed by a goal from man of the match Conor McBride. St. Louis’ were never able to recover and despite a great display by Sean Elliot for the runners up it was always going to be CPC’s day. Oisin McAuley and Tiarnan McGlynn were other standout performers on the day for CPC.
