On Thursday 26th October CPC held a day of events dedicated to the well-being of all our pupils. This is an area we feel is very important in our school and we want to invest the time and resources to ensure our pupils get a good experience.
There were 2 different sessions running throughout the day for the pupils.
Firstly, we were delighted to welcome Noel McGrath to CPC. Noel is a current Tipperary Hurler, All Ireland winner and 2-time All-Star. As one of Ireland’s top sportspeople Noel spoke to the pupils on the topic of ‘Resilience’. From the highs of winning All-Ireland’s to the lows of being diagnosed with cancer, Noel discussed the challenges he faced and the coping strategies he employed during the tough times. He hoped through the telling of his story to inspire our pupils to become more resilient in their own lives whatever challenges they may face.
Our second guest speaker on the day was Simon James, a singer-songwriter from Dublin. With a growing reputation, multi-talented Simon is making waves in the music industry. He is currently working on his new EP and is due to support Liam Payne from ‘One Direction’ on some dates later this year after already supporting ‘Union J’ during their recent tour. Simon performed some songs for the pupils and followed this up with a talk on ‘Online Safety, Cyber Bullying & Discrimination’.
Both speakers were warmly received and the pupils fully engaged in the sessions which were both informative and enjoyable. Thanks to both Noel and Simon for their contribution to what was a very productive day in CPC.
