Investigative Learning

Aims

The Investigative Learning Curriculum plan is a specially developed syllabus for pupils who require Level One literacy or numeracy support. It is a curriculum plan focused on delivering high quality literacy and numeracy support strategies to smaller groups of pupils identified through formative data. The subject is project based, encompassing the three curriculum areas of Geography, History and L.L.W and developed using Connecting Classrooms, CCS and TSPCs.

Key Stage 3

I.L pupils are timetabled for 14 lessons across the 2 week timetable during Years 8 & 9.

The vision for Investigative Learning during these two years is to give pupils the tools to overcome academic, social and personal barriers in order to achieve their potential.  We strive to encourage our pupils to develop a passion for learning, a real sense of achievement and improve their self-confidence.

We have embedded our Sri Lankan link, through Connecting Classrooms and the British Council, into our curriculum and this has enabled our pupils to develop a broader insight and understanding of both their own community and that of another country.
